You may not want to hear everything... but mostly, you do

Updated: Jan 14, 2020

We get all kinds of posts in the Class of '65 private Facebook Group. Some fit into the “health advice” category and this one started out with a post by Duane Brown in March that began with the line, “I can hear again”.

He went on to explain that he had just gotten a hearing aid that is all but invisible. It’s the ReSound brand, from Costco, and was recommended to him by Mim Streiff Poag. Duane added, “I have the app on my iPhone and also on my Apple watch.”

Then the comments started coming in.

Mike Bradley: "I’ve had my Costco aids about 2 years now. Easy to use and work well."

Colleen McLean Calver: "Costco is the best!! My husband, Lewi, ended up with the same but cheaper from a hearing aid place only because they offered a University of Texas Southwestern discount on top of the insurance payment. But his look like yours and the pod matches his hair!"

Nancy Mirshah: "My husband, Hassan, also vouches for Costco hearing aids and he's tried many others."

Barb Kendall Souza: "Pete (Souza) has these and you can't even tell he has them on. Amazing!"

Karenann Stitt: "And replaced if lost within a year. My husband did that!"

Mim Streiff Poag: "Nothing like being able to hear!!! I got ReSound aids from my audiologist, who updates the software for me. (I have the ReSound app on my phone and can do the basic updates.) I was at a huge arena concert lately and some people were complaining about their hearing aids bothering them whenever the clapping started. But I could hear the singer perfectly and when the audience screamed, clapped, and got loud, my hearing aids didn’t get any louder."

Sam Swisher: "I have had Phonak aids for 3 years and what a difference. Too much standing in front of guitar amplifiers back in the day!"

Barbara DeHart Eadie to Duane: "Impressive. Does it work well?"

Duane: "Sometimes too well. I had never heard the motor on the trash can lid before and the ice maker is pretty loud." :)

Sandra Sell-Lee: "Got mine 1½ years ago. Love them!"

Of course, as Donald Hagen pointed out, “Ya can’t fix selective hearing; it is kinda handy at times, lol.”
