Another gang of class members from California, Michigan, New York and Texas met in Austin last weekend. Over brisket and ribs served on brown paper at a Texas barbecue place on March 19 to a classier lunch at the 1886 Café and Bakery in the historic Driskill Hotel on March 21, classmates got reacquainted or met for the first time. The highlight was hearing Bill Kirchen and his band play on March 20 at the state’s oldest honkytonk dance hall, the legendary Gruene Hall, following a group dinner at the Gristmill in Gruene. Class members who attended one or more of the gatherings with their spouses or guests included Duane Brown, Brent Daeuble, Susan (Magid )Bergin, Ron Haft, Bill Kirchen, Nancy McArtor, Colleen (McLean) Calver, Denny Olmsted, Pamela (Purdy) Stephens, John and Sandy (Kuhn) Sharum, and Mim (Streiff) Poag.
