Olympic Athlete Ann Arbor, MI
Francie has been a track and field star since her school days. She set a world record in the 600-yard indoor event and was the first Michigan-born woman to win a place on the U.S. Olympic team (Mexico City in 1968 and Munich in 1972.) She later coached women’s track at Michigan, Wake Forest University and the U of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She has been inducted into the UM Athletic Hall of Honor, the UM Women’s Track & Field Hall of Fame and the MI Women’s Hall of Fame.
