Ruth Ryan: You can take the girl out of Michigan but she may come back

Ruth sent a note to Duane Brown to update her contact information and we were surprised and delighted to see what the changes were. To let Ruth tell it in her own words: “After 22 great years in New Orleans, my husband and I retired and moved back home to Michigan. We house-hunted in Ann Arbor first, where we learned you can afford a house, but not the taxes! So then we looked in Saline, Dexter and Chelsea. At the last minute, we found a house in Chelsea and moved on December 1, even before learning all the good reasons to choose Chelsea. With what we have learned since, we believe Chelsea is the new Dexter, and Ann Arbor people will be increasingly forced or lured out here over time. Chelsea proper has great old houses that remind me of Burns Park (only with larger lots!) within walking distance to the picturesque 1900-vintage Main Street downtown. And it’s a quick zip into Ann Arbor.”
