In February, Dick Fortune died suddenly under circumstances that are still being investigated by the AAPD. John Sharum, Julie Burnes Stevens, Diane Ellis Racano, and other friends will recall friendly "Dickie Fortune" from Northside Elementary School.
He came to a mini reunion that Northside alumni had at the home of Scott and Sandy (Jones) Johnson during the 2015 reunion weekend and was full of life. He became a bridge master at age 22, loved contra dancing, and cultivated flowers, especially dahlias, which he regularly gave away to neighbors.Mike Robinson was one of those neighbors and remembers Dick sometimes stopping by to chat on one of his walks around the neighborhood. Lauri Ingber Solomon wrote,
“Dick ALWAYS had a smile on his face”
And you’ll see that sunny smile in the photograph accompanying his obituary.
