7/21/23. Sharon Ralph Gingras shared the news and sent us the obituary of her longtime friend. Steve was one of the members, along with Sharon, of the inaugural Kindergarten Class at the newly built Carpenter School in 1952.
He and Sharon weren’t the only ones in our graduating class who go back that far at Carpenter. Other little kindergarteners with them were Duane Brown, Kay Deller, Carl Exelby, Smith Gibson, Joan Hogan, Jim Osterberg, Sandra Sell Lee and Greg Shambaugh. During our Class of ’65 50-year reunion weekend in 2015, one of the small group mini-reunions was for Carpenter alumni. You can see both a picture of the whole class in 1952 and a snapshot from a 2015 reunion lunch on the class website.
It's always sweet when, after listing family members—and Steve's family included "many nieces, nephews, great-nephews, and great-great nieces"—an obituary mentions pets; after all, they’re important family members, too, and sometimes the nicest ones! Steve’s dogs are Angel, Lovey and Baby Girl and we hope they’re still together.
Steve was a proud Army veteran and was laid to rest with military honors in Arborcrest Cemetery.
