12/16/21. Bill Merchant reached out to let us know about Peter. They had known each other since they were 7 or 8 years old, living in the Pittsburgh area. Bill said that Peter’s family moved to Ann Arbor ahead of his and it was great to connect with him at AAHS. When in junior high at Tappan, Peter lived across the street from Monique Scanio Doherty. She said he was later a highly skilled carpenter who did some fine work on her house. Mac Whitehouse and Susan Magid Bergin remember him fondly from our school days and more than one girl admits to having had a crush on him.
Peter became a close friend of Scott Johnson and was Best Man at Scott’s wedding to our classmate Sandy Jones Johnson in 1969. They remained close into the 70’s but lost touch in later years. On hearing the news about Peter, Scott gave us a good reminder: “Don’t lose the opportunities to reconnect when you have them, even if you think you may be a pest.”
Peter was living in the Greenville, NC area.
