9/26/24. Sharon Ralph Gingras sent us the news about her close friend whom she met when Linda’s family moved into the Carpenter School neighborhood. One of her favorite memories is from 5th grade when she and Judy Otts Dowding used to walk over to Linda’s house and go down to the basement to play games and watch American Bandstand. Sharon said, ‘We all loved to dance the way they would on Bandstand.  We all thought we were pretty good dancers, too! In fact, whenever we attended a dance we were often out on the dance floor together since the boys weren't as interested in dancing as we were.”

Linda’s best friend was class member Mary Wagner Fink and her obituary mentions that “she enjoyed her regular lunch dates with special classmates over the years”. Mary, Sharon and Judi were part of that group of girlfriends who have been meeting monthly for over ten years, along with Dawn Cole Kirk and Mary Kirby Lumbard. Carol Keeton also joins them whenever she’s back in Ann Arbor from her home in Florida.

Duane Brown remembers Linda well, too, from riding the bus with her during their school years and being the Wiedmeyer family paperboy. He sent this anecdote: “I vividly remember riding my bike near her house on my way to deliver her paper one day when a large crow landed on my shoulder. When I turned to see what was there, it looked at me and said ‘hello.’ The next day at school I told the story and Linda started laughing and said to me ‘Don’t worry, he’s friendly. He’s our pet crow, Blackie!”
