News about Gail Zill

7/5/22. If there is one word that comes up again and again as Class of ‘65 friends describe Gail, it’s “sweet”. We heard it from friends who grew up with her from the time they were little kids on the west side of Ann Arbor; were in Brownies and Girl Scouts together with Gail; or were in Confirmation Class with her at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. These include Barb Kendall Souza, Pamela Conn Hyde, Rita Mulholland Yeager and Sharon Ralph Gingras. And friends from later school days, such as Kathy Miller Arhangelos, Patricia Schneider Mannor, and Laurie McFall Leinbach recall her in just the same way. Pamela also remembers that Gail was part of the Live Singing Christmas Tree taught by the Slauson music teacher, Ms. Kellogg, which performed at Hill Auditorium.

Gail believed it was her duty in life to help others and she did that throughout her career, first as a teacher and later as a Registered Nurse specializing in pediatrics and triage. A longtime resident of Washington, D.C., Gail was active in her community and in numerous church groups and programs over the years. During the last years of her life, developing Lewy Body dementia, she lived with her daughter and two grandsons in Winchester VA.
