His obituary called him “a natural jokester” and that’s just the way Vicki Guenther Farrell remembers Eugene from school: “a character, always joking and always fun.” He loved games, sports and being with people. He was a mail carrier for more than 40 years at a time when your mailman was someone you got to know.
While he was a fan of the Lions, Tigers, Red Wings and Pistons, Eugene’s biggest allegiance was to the Wolverines and watching them win the national championship this year put “a permanent smile on his face”.
