9/18/23. Art Tai got in touch to let us know about Dana. He wrote that Dana "passed away of unknown/natural causes on Sept 18, three weeks after our reunion this past August." He said that Dana was one of his first friends in Ann Arbor when his family moved here in 1964.
Art described Dana as "eccentric, smart and loyal" and indeed he was. Colleen McLean Calver said, “Dana marched to the beat of his own drum at a time when a lot of us were afraid to. I admired and respected him for that.” John Cooch called Dana “clever and kind to others”.
Lauri Ingber Solomon was good friends with Dana and they had some adventures while at the U of M. “One of my steadfast memories in my junior year is of Dana pushing me in a shopping cart down South U!” Lauri did a multi-media painting that still hangs in her home called “Dana’s Daydream”. It was inspired by a conversation they had about what they missed from their childhood days.
Dana came from Oregon every single year for our class reunions and took genuine pleasure in seeing everyone. It will be disappointing to have a reunion and not see him somewhere in the room, chatting with friends of many years' standing.
