News about Bill Arnold

Updated: Jul 18, 2022

6/24/22. Bill was a very close friend of Sharon Ralph Gingras and her husband, Don, and she wrote to let us know the news. Although she knew Bill in high school, she got to know him a lot better afterwards through Don, who attended Washtenaw Community College with him, studying auto mechanics. After WCC, they worked together at Campus Motors until Bill left to open his own transmission shop. Sharon passed along a comment from one of Bill’s customers who said, “Bill was an honest, hardworking guy who would never say a bad thing about anyone.” He later owned his own shop in Jackson, where he lived for more than 40 years. When he wasn’t working, he was known for his love of hunting and fishing.

Married since 1969, Bill and his wife Ann had three children. Their younger daughter called her dad “a big Teddy Bear” who was always there for them. Bill was a Vietnam Veteran and his memorial concluded with a military send-off and presentation of the flag to Ann.

Martha Walters Sayre remembers that Bill was in her homeroom and called him “sweet, friendly, kind and humorous.” A nice way to be remembered.
