7/23/2019. Barry’s wife wrote to let us know that he had died after a long illness. Known for being very smart and an all-around nice guy, Barry was among a congenial group of Class of ‘65ers in the San Francisco Bay Area who had occasional dinners at the home of Duane Brown.
A classmate who was at one of those dinners was Denny Olmsted and he sent this remembrance of Barry: "We were both at the UM and in the fall of 1966, he and I were in the same chemistry lecture at Angell Hall. There were at least 200 students in that venerable hall, with its ascending rows curving from the lectern. After every major test, the professor would read off the names of the people who had the five highest grades. Barry's name was always the first to be called because he had the highest percentage, sometimes even 100%."
Denny added, "the world lost a treasure last July" and we agree.
