Memory Lane gets longer when we’re 72

In the class Facebook group, Tim Falls posted a list of #1 songs from 1965 and it took us back to younger days. As Cherie Major commented,” They’re great songs from a good time in our lives”. Rita Mulholland Yeager surely spoke for a lot of us when she said, “Loved all of them!” Linda McEndree Jackson was a big Rolling Stones fan (and still is), along with Vicki Guenther Farrell. Sylvia Shippey said, “They’re still great to listen to today” and Sharon Ralph Gingras added, “I listen to them often.” Plenty of us can probably remember most of the words, like Julia Steiner who looked at the list and said, “Of course I sang a verse from each one.” However, you may feel the way Vicki did when she read the list: “How can we remember every word of every song on this list, but not what we did last week?” Susan Magid Bergin on that theme: “I’m surprised I remember all the words and yet not everything on my shopping list. I can still find my car, though!” You may not be surprised to hear that of the 28 hits listed, five were by the Beatles and four by the Supremes. Check out the list and take your own trip down the musical memory lane.
