Lizette eats her vegetables

This summer, Pamela Conn Hyde, aka Perky Lizette on Facebook, had surgery for a full rotator cuff tear lingering from a bad car accident five years earlier. She needed some help once she got home and her friend since the age of 7, Camille Procassini, flew down to Florida from Michigan to take over for two weeks. They didn't exactly sit around playing one-handed gin rummy. No, Pamela's "convalescence" included three days at Universal Studios. Isn't healing 70-somethings what Harry Potter's Castle is known for?

Back home at Pamela's, Camille exercised her own kind of magic. Pamela is not known for eating her veggies -- in fact, she hates most of them! But Camille, a great cook who believes in healthy eating, was having none of that. She tied on her apron and turned out beautiful meals that included asparagus spears with Parmesan cheese, and Brussels sprouts with honey and balsamic vinegar. (Pamela says, "She cut up the Brussels sprouts into tiny bits so I wouldn't know what it was.") Pamela admits that she has since regressed to her former habits of eating raw cauliflower with ranch dressing and raw green beans. She doesn't cook much and if she did, she wouldn't waste time on vegetables! You can see photos of Camille's visit below. In the photo taken shortly after Pamela's surgery, for some extra comfort she's wrapped in a favorite shirt that belonged to her late husband, our classmate Damon Hyde.
