Jim Osterberg finally gets his Grammy

Updated: Jun 3, 2020

Jim Osterberg a.k.a. Iggy Pop

When Jim, aka Iggy Pop, heard that he’d be getting an award for Lifetime Achievement—his first Grammy—at the 2020 Grammy Awards, he had a typically wry reaction.

  • I said, I’m not talking to them! It’s been, what? 50 years? No Grammy!

  • But they said, You won.

  • And I said, Well, is there anything I have to do? Is it contingent on anything?

  • And they said, No. It can never be changed.

  • So I thought that was okay. That was nice.

Jim added, “It took me a long time to appreciate that a lot of people have points of view that are nothing like mine whatsoever, but I need to respect them. Whereas when I was 25, it was like, ‘Agree with me or death.’” From an interview on Fox News.

We would just like to know where he put that Grammy. Iggy Pop doesn't exactly seem like the type to display trophies on his mantel. On second thought, he does drive a Rolls Royce, so maybe he's a status-y kind of guy, after all.
