Last November, Pamela Conn Hyde wrote that she was having a new adventure as an Airbnb host. Damon Hyde, Pamela’s late husband and a classmate of ours at AAHS, bought a 4-bedroom, 2500 sq. ft. condo in Plantation, Florida, in 1981 and, Pam says, "I am not ready to move yet.” Beginning in December 2016, she opened her home near Ft. Lauderdale to guests who find her through her Airbnb listing. Pamela said, “I get to meet people from all over the world, including Canada, France, Spain, Finland, the U.K., Puerto Rico, Turkey, Korea, China, Ukraine, Morocco, Brazil, Guatemala, and Peru, to name just a few -- and also put some extra funds into my bank account. It has been a wonderful experience for me.” It has clearly been a wonderful experience for her guests, too; in 80 reviews she has 5-star rating. That qualified her to become an Airbnb “Superhost” after 3 months, putting her in a class that Airbnb defines as “experienced hosts who provide a shining example for other hosts, and extraordinary experiences for their guests.”
