Chris Kyprie comes home

Northern Michigan now counts quite a few of our class members among its residents, some who come for the cool (compared to Florida!) summers and others who come to live full time after many years away. Chris is the latest classmate to come home, moving back to Michigan from Bloomington, IN.

Known professionally as a performing artist and musicologist using her family’s original Greek surname, Kyprianides, in April Chris brought her 9 instruments and 30 boxes of books and music along with her to Traverse City. She spent summers and high school years at the Interlochen Center for the Arts, so the move meant coming back to a familiar and much-loved home. When she and her husband, Gary, also a musician, were looking at real estate in the area, they discovered The Village at Grand Traverse Commons. Built in 1882, it was a former State Mental Hospital whose buildings are now beautifully restored, with private residences, restaurants, boutiques, hiking and biking trails. I can vouch for the beauty of the area and even the surprising shops at The Village -- when was the last time you came across a furrier? We went over from Crystal Lake last summer to see the renovated historic site and left with a rabbit collar!
