After cancelling his tour season and getting antsy at home like the rest of us, Bill Kirchen found another way to make some music for his fans. On May 15, he went live, streaming a “Cabin Fever Reliever” house concert—“totally alive for the socially deprived”—from his home in Austin. In true Bill Kirchen fashion, it was also billed as a “Lockdown Hoedown” and “Isolation Jubilation” and it was! Singing “good to be alive songs”, he credited Vicki Guenther Farrell’s husband, Blackie, and Kate Brown’s sister, Sarah, with some of the songwriting. His wife, Louise, joined him for duets, their dog strolled by a couple of times, and over 850 fans from places as far away as Switzerland, Sweden, and France tuned in to hear Bill tell stories and make music as only he can. Mike Bradley, Colleen McLean Calver, Sara Stubbins, Vicki Farrell, Duane Brown, and Nancy McArtor were at home themselves, tapping their toes. The session was such a success that Bill tuned up his guitars for more Fridays.
